Scorpion Rotatable Dipoles PDF Print E-mail

We have three Rotatable Dipoles models to offer:

SA-680s…..10 through 80 meters the shorty version of our 160 meter antenna.

SA-680…….10 through 80 meters our best seller, sporting #10 wire for the coil.

SA6-160…..10 through 160 meters for our Top Band customers.

DHS/TSA…better known as The Dept of Homeland Security has deployed not only our Dipole system mounted on a tripod with great success, but our SA-680s antennas as well, on their mobile equipment.

The performance of this small aperture dipole system is surprising. The Dipole at height, is directional. At ground level it performs as an NVIS antenna on 40, 80 and 160 meters. By rotating it 90 degrees you will have full 360 degree coverage.

This Dipole system is fully adjustable from 10 to 80 meters…10 to 160 with the 160 meter version. We supply two 5 ft whips to cover 10 through 80 meters. Typical VSWR for 10 through 80 is 1.5:1 or less with the 5 ft whips or using the Scorpion Cage Cap Hats™ for a smaller foot print.

We recommend using our high power current balun that is constructed from ten beads of #77 material to keep common mode RF currents off of the outside shield of the coax, it decouples the dipole system from the coax. The DX Engineering 1:1 current Balun has also been tested with our Dipole with good results.

A recommended optional antenna controller for our dipole system is two of the Ameritron SDC-102 screwdriver controllers. These units have 10 memory programmable buttons along with a digital display and adjustable antenna motor over current protection. We have tested and use the Ameritron SDC-102 screwdriver controllers. These units make antenna tuning a breeze!

We use 6061-T6 machined Aluminum for our dipole mounting shaft. The shaft center has been machined to accept a three quarter inch piece of Stainless allthread that forms a T configuration. We need to know the I.D. dimensions of your mast or mounting pipe so we can build to order.

This antenna will work great for the operator that lives in an HOA better known as Home Owners Association. All of our dipole systems can be installed either in an attic, a tripod or mast mounted.
